The pier »Op’n Bulln« at Hamburg/ Blankenese offers the most beautiful views along the river and the sky. The main element will be the clouds and I am still amazed how much they can run across the sky in winter time. Not like in summer when they seem to be pinned with a needle to the firmament.

Usually this part of the pier is packed with tables but not in the winter time. With 40F it felt quite warm compared to last weeks 15F.

Accompanied with a cold wind and strong current I tried to capture the fastness in the sky. I am challenged to create the dynamics and fastness of the clouds in the painting. For a change I chose a bigger format to give the sky more space.

Op’n bulls in fresh air – The beauty and the challenge of plein aire is the light dances from moment to moment – the choreography is not repetitive. So the artist is released to capture the vision within their mind … with just a hint of the orginal. Kudos.
